Spotlight On: Gillian Kyle - Retro Scottish Gifts

Tunnocks Tea Cakes. Irn Bru. A Scottish Pride Plain loaf. These are all iconic parts of Scottish Culture. And what better way to showcase them, than on some funky products!

And that's exactly what the designer Gillian Kyle has done.  From mugs to greeting cards, aprons to tea towels, Gill has captured these iconic images beautifully.

My favourite is her Tunnocks Teacake Foil Bag which retails at £17.50. Perfect for shopping, taking lunch to work or chucking loads of bits and bobs in when out and about!

The website also offers a range for babies and toddlers. There are bibs, short and long sleeved tshirts- all made from the best in organic cotton, printed in Glasgow and made with water based inks.  Perfect for your own little teacakes!  Sizes range from 6mths-24mths and prices start at £8.50. There are also tshirts available for older kids.

Gill's values are simple - to design great, functional products with lasting appeal. The products are mostly produced end to end in the UK and are made from organic cotton and inks which minimise environmental pollution.  An even better reason to buy and support a local venture!

Would you like a chance to win one of these fab products?

Gillian Kyle has very kindly offered to give away one of her short sleeved baby tshirts, in either the Tunnocks Teacake or Scottish Plain Bread design to one lucky winner. These come in sizes 6mth, 12mth, 18mth and 24mth.

All you have to do to win, is leave a comment below, telling me what Scottish iconic item best describes you and why (it can be anything!)  If you could also follow my blog, that would be great.

Entries will close at midday on Wednesday 19th January and entrants must reside in the UK. Any entries received after this date will not be counted. The winning entry will be chosen and notified by myself. Gillian Kyle will then send out the chosen design in the correct size to the winner.

Good luck!

This giveaway has now closed.  And the winner is...

Congratulations to Abbie ♥ - well done!  Please get in touch with me directly with your preferred design, size and address details.  I will then arrange for Gillian Kyle to post your t-shirt directly to you!

Thanks to all who entered.  I hope to have another giveaway very soon. Stay posted...

  1. Love these products Gillian, the adult t-shirts are pretty cool too. I know my hubby would love the teacake one (birthday sorted) My pregnant friends would love the wee cutie baby tee's - Mother's Pride is fab.

I'd have to describe myself as the iconic Scottish macaroon bar. Some people maybe think I'm a bit flaky on the surface but inside i'm really quite soft and sweet.

  3. Such lovely items - especially love the teacake design.

I would like to think that I'm most similiar to a bottle of Bell's whisky - mellow, complex and gets better with age (here's hoping!)

I follow your blog too :)
